2 Big Concerts

Friday Night Magic Night Concert will be at the wonderful Thornbury Theatre featuring Dead Mans Uke, Duplicity, Cameron Murray and the irrepressible Melbourne Ukulele Kollective!

Playing in Australia for the first time, Dead Mans Uke are heading to the Thornbury Theatre playing dirt swing, hokum, country blues, rock n roll and anything else they fancy on double bass and a resonator ukulele that belonged to Tiny Tim! Dead Mans Uke have toured extensively across the UK and recently in Prague, Dublin, Austria, Paris, Bavaria, Poland, Las Vegas, Palm Springs and even Saudi Arabia! You might even see a bit of magic in their show as they bring their never before seen in Australia show to #MUF23. Dead Mans Uke are supported by popular covers and originals from the enigmatic Duplicity (fresh from performing at the Blue Mountains Festival), the enchanting internationally recognised singer-songwriter Cameron Murray and irrepressible local favourites Melbourne Ukulele Kollective. Friday Night unfolds over four acts that will keep you spellbound!

It will be a *MAGIC NIGHT*

Saturday Night join us in a Magic Dance Concert at the inviting Chalice Hall with perennial Festival favourites The Thin White Ukes. Supported by Tyrone (alone), the Ukastle Ukestra, The Emerald Ruby and The Hollows. The Saturday Night Magic Dance Concert will have you on your feet singing and dancing!

The Thin White Ukes perform the songs of David Bowie with love and harmony. The glamorously attired Melbourne trio travels six decades deep into the great art-rock visionary’s swooning songbook of smash hits and astounding obscurities, each lovingly reassembled for precision acoustic strings and three richly entwined voices. Watch out for something special from this great band ... just for the Magic Dance Concert!

Earlier in the evening enjoy Tyrone (Alone) playing light music for dark times, designed to defy the drop-downs and fashioned to fly across the footlights and into your heart! The Ukastle Ukestra will bring the culmination of 13 years of a slowly rotating roster of ukulele enthusiasts from Newcastle NSW, lead by two of the world's most successful professional community musicians Mark Jackson and Jane Jelbart. Multidisciplinary artist, The Emerald Ruby blends soulful vocals caressed with gentle ukulele stitched together with lilting flute creating a sonic pallet to delight, and consider. What do Gen Z Uni Students do in lockdown? They start a band! The Hollows are an original duo that pours their self-obsessed angst into the lyrics of their catchy original songs and the occasional cover.

Also featured during the Magic Dance Concert will be the winner of the #MUF23 Songwriting Competition.
